Self-Care is Essential In Reducing Aging
Self-Care is Essential In Reducing Aging, plus you may be able to hold back the ravages of time and wrinkles.
Self-Care should help to keep your skin looking young and firm.
Self-Care demonstrates the important’s of maintaining your skin keeping it feeling soft and looking healthy and firm, not yellowing with dark skin spots and moles.
Self-Care is a wonderful thing and if many of us had listened to our elders when we were young maybe we would have looked after our skin a little better as we grew up simply by using a little Self-Care! But that’s life and as we mature into adults some of us do begin to look after ourselves a little better using self-care, and girls tend to be better at it than men. Just look at the way girls do their hair and make up and generally look after their skin.
This is something that women especially have been doing for a very long time. However, in today’s world, most women and increasingly men alike pay special attention to their looks before venturing out in public. We now see almost as many advertisements for cosmetic items for Men as we do for Women, with various creams, pre-shave,after-shave and a number of hair care products too.
The earlier we begin to look after our bodies, especially our skin the easier it becomes to keep it out of direct sunlight, moisturized and nourished with the right vitamins etc.
After all most of us would prefer not to look in the mirror to see a face that is getting older with wrinkles and dark areas
showing under and around their eyes.
So modern thinking about beauty products and treatments apply equally to Men as well as Women, have you noticed that there
are now as many ads for Men’s products as there are for Women? A different approach to the ads of only ten years back.
But the point is that these products that keep your face and skin fresh looking tight and glowing are all Ant-Aging products.
Some of the products we use are easily found in Nature or in the food or drinks we consume. Many of us take supplements in order to help us to obtain a more youthful appearance and to keep in good shape.
But as you age you may have noticed that some people begin to stoop or to develop what is termed round shoulders, this is all to do with your stature and you can improve this immediately just by sitting or standing correctly, nice and straight, so that you have the correct posture and this alone will make you feel better with a little more confidence and you are less likely to look like a much older person. But surely you must remember being told to do these things by your folks when you were young? This is what Self care is all about-Just looking after yourself and taking responsibility for your body and soul.
Have you ever heard the term “Beauty is only Skin Deep” This might well be true and it is important to remember and it is the reason we spend so much on skin products in order to keep and maintain what is only a thin barrier to the outside. It is important to keep on top of our skin because it is the first area of our bodies which shows signs of aging if we mistreat it.
But there are other things that can keep you looking young, everything from skincare products to good fashion sense. But first
let’s take a look at some of the problem areas.
Skin is your largest organ and unfortunately it takes quite a battering from the weather or through hard work, it is also one
of the most neglected areas of our body. Let us look at some of the other areas where our skin may be exposed to areas where
irreversible damage could be inflicted. Severely Hot or Cold weather can quickly and easily damage any exposed skin, so can
not drinking enough, de-hydration can cause drying and cracks to develop.
If you are a worker in the great outdoors then it is extremely important to cover up with the correct work gear before venturing out otherwise you are just asking for trouble whether you are in the hot deserts or the freezing arctic, the same rule applies, use self care to look after yourself because you alone are responsible for your own life!
Sun Tans, everyone likes the look that exposure to the sun has upon our appearance, a Sun Tan makes us look and feel better, we
are more confident when we have a good tan. But as we are subjecting our skin to hours of harsh sunlight, especially without
the protection of any creams to prevent harmful rays from damaging the skin cells. But those rays will take a toll on your
Tanning looks great in your younger days, but as you age your skin will look leathery as you get older and the lines will
increase and deepen. Not to mention, it could bring out more moles and even contribute towards skin cancer.
We have known this for a number of years now but still some of us will continue to lay out in the Sun without a care or sun
cream or perhaps worse we will use the dreaded sun beds which provide a concentrated burst of UV Rays straight to our skin.
It will be ten or twenty years plus, later when the damage reveals itself. So the message has been promoted for the past
decade that whatever age we are, use a strong sun screen with at least the correct SPF protection should be used and re-applied every thirty minutes or following each dip in the pool or sea. Or the best advice would be to cover up completely.
You can get makeup that has SPF protection built into it, but this may not be sufficient on its own, so add an extra layer
of protection under your makeup to maximize your benefits. Some form of moisturizing is another thing to remember to either
combine with your protection or at the very least you must apply it when you have finished your sun bathing session and you
have cleaned up and most definitely at night with your normal skin care regimen.
Everyone is concerned when wrinkles begin to appear, but they generally appear due to the skin drying up. Wrinkles themselves
give the appearance of drying up. So you have to hydrate it, but typical solutions aren’t enough when used alone. You need to
drink plenty of water throughout the day, remember our bodies are 90% water and as we work or exercise we perspire (sweat)
so we need to continually replace this liquid, in doing so we may assist the skin in appearing to be plumped up and firm.
A women has pretty much standard nightly routines, during which a variety of moisturizers and other products may be used on
the skin mainly on her face. This may include eye care, facial moisturizers and body moisturizers.
Facial moisturizers usually have a day or night application. The daytime ones offer more protection from harmful rays and
toxins (like pollutants) that you may encounter during the day.
Night time moisturizers remove and repair the damage that may have been done by the free radicals floating around in the air
that you encountered. You want to make sure you’ve thoroughly cleansed your face before you apply it so that it can work on
a totally clean skin and is able to penetrate deep into your cells. If you do sleep in your daytime makeup it could be damaging.
Hair is another part of you that will show your age, often very prematurely. Both men and women in their twenties and early thirties who begin to go thin and begin to lose their hair or they show signs of going gray much younger than others of the same age. Now I must say that it is quite normal to lose up to one hundred hairs each day but any more and you know that you must have a problem.
Some supplements, such as Biotin and Palmetto, said to strengthen hair and nails as they are made from a similar substance. This will not replace any lost hair but it may help to strengthen any you have left.
Another factor which can affect aging and how you look including lost hair is STRESS, this is a growing problem in today’s hectic work places with increasing numbers of people being treated for stress and related illnesses including heart attacks, circulation problems and mental health issues. Other causes can be Thyroid disease,
If you can recognize these signs before they have a serious impact on your life and take steps to change you workplace if at all possible. If you can get your Doctor to do a complete vitamin panel so that you both can see if your body is low on any particular vitamins, in fact while taking bloods he may as well do a complete check up just to ensure nothing else is going on with your body. If it is a vitamin deficiency then it is an easy fix either with injections or with regular supplements.
There are also over the counter hair loss solutions which work for some people such as Rogaine, although your Doctor may decide to go for something stronger, but it is better to opt for a natural or organic solutions first.
For people going prematurely grey, this is an issue which is caused the loss or reduction of melanin, which is a pigment of your hair, although it is normal for people to begin losing this pigmentation around middle age which can be around thirty to forty.
You don’t have to remain grey if you don’t wish to it is quite easy and common for people to apply color(s) to their hair, you can try to regain or match your previous color or you could change your color to anything you feel like, after all its your hair.
Just a note of caution, if its the first time that you have applied color to your hair it is worth having your local salon do it as they will do a test to ensure that your head (skin) is suitable for the test and that you are not going to suffer any kind of adverse reaction to the coloring agent.
The other reason I would suggest a salon is because the hair especially for women is such an important feature for them, that to have any misfortune at all, like going bright pink unintentionally would see them indoors for weeks or until it can be changed.
While you are there, you could have a discussion with the stylist to get their opinion about whether your hair style and color is in line with your normal age.
